Interning in Moshi is an incredible experience.
The team here is welcoming from the second you arrive. Our focal project we are currently fundraising for is a project that touches many peoples hearts. You can genuinely see the positive impact, what your fundraising for, will have on the peoples lives. There is also the opportunity to visit the project you are fundraising for on a regular basis which is brilliant, as you can see how grateful they are for the work you are doing.
Youre able to be creative with your ideas on how you can fundraise and the team here is very open to listening to your ideas and will always help where possible to ensure your event is successful.
The location here is perfect as you have Mount Kilimanjaro on your doorstep. We have a partnership with a tour operator which means plenty of trips are available to do at reasonable prices and the town centre is close by with plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants.
Im improving / gaining many skills during my internship. This includes:
- My writing skills – I’m now beginning to have the ability to adjust my writing style depending on who the reader is and what the topic I am writing about is.
- Confidence – Meeting new people can be very daunting especially when you’re asking for donations. However, this internship has allowed me to feel more confident.
- Organization – Holding fundraising events requires you to be organized therefore my planning and organization skills have greatly improved.
Another great reason to intern here is that you get to meet and live with a variety of people from all over the world. There is also the opportunity to learn the local language Swahili.
Overall Im having an incredible experience and any challenges that do arise are very easily solved with the team that surrounds me. Working under staff members who have been in the industry for years is very valuable. Interning is an excellent way to learn more about yourself and to help you grow as a person. They ensure that you complete everything that you need to do for The Happy Africa Foundation but they also ensure that youre getting what you want out of the experience.
