When you volunteer with African Impact in Zambia, you’re giving back in more ways than one. Not only will you help the communities in which you work but you’ll also help our charity, The Happy Africa Foundation, and the work we do in Livingstone. And, as with all of African Impact’s projects, you have the trip of a lifetime.

We’ve listed the top four Zambia projects and an exciting offer African Impact just launched. Continue reading to learn more about the Happy Africa Foundation projects your trip would benefit.

    1.    FACILITATED LION RESEARCH PROJECT, LIVINGSTONE ZAMBIA

PROJECT IMPACT: WILDLIFE RESEARCH & CONSERVATION

Contribute to the conservation of the mighty African lion as you undertake your dissertation or senior thesis at a UNESCO World Heritage Site and experience the adventure of a lifetime.

    2.    HEALTHCARE & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

PROJECT IMPACT: HIV/AIDS SUPPORT

Join the African Impact team in the ‘Adventure Centre’ of Southern Africa and bring hope & health to a community where medical resources are limited. Your involvement on this project could change lives and help support local healthcare initiatives in rural communities.

    3.    CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY & WILDLIFE ORPHAN CARE

PROJECT IMPACT: WILDLIFE RESEARCH & CONSERVATION

Care for rescued chimpanzees and play a vital role in their protection and conservation at a chimp sanctuary Jane Goodall once called “the most wonderful place on earth”.

    4.    SPORTS & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, LIVINGSTONE ZAMBIA

PROJECT IMPACT: SPORTS & COACHING

    5.    NEW: TEACHER TRAINING & EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS PROGRAM

PROJECT IMPACT: TEACHING & EDUCATION

Join a unique opportunity to share your teaching skills and knowledge with local teachers in Zambia while gaining hands on work experience. This project will see you volunteering on the doorstep of the Victoria Falls and soaking up the essence of a rich and vibrant culture.

Happy Africa Foundation Projects in Zambia:

Zambezi Sawmills School Renovation

Category: Education & enrichment
Where: Livingstone

Zambezi Sawmills is currently one of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged community schools that The Happy Africa Foundation works with in Livingstone. Situated within the Zambezi compound, the school is presently operating out of an unsecured site that is open to vandalism and theft.

Linda Clinic Expansion

Category: Health & nutrition
Where: Livingstone

The project aims to transform Linda Clinic into a three-ward district hospital that will be able to provide the surrounding communities with better support and access to more extensive health care. This will involve the building of three wards – female, male and children’s – as an extension to the current out-patient clinic.

Community Development Fund

Category: Empowering communities
Where: Livingstone

Identifying sustainable initiatives that will have an impact on the greater community, the Happy Africa Foundation is able to ensure that appropriate funding and resources are distributed to projects in need.

Sponsor a Child Program

Category: Education & enrichment
Where: Livingstone

The sponsor a child program works with local partner schools to identify children in the community who need financial assistance in order to be able to attend school. Many of these children are prepared to walk miles to get to school without complaint. With sponsorship, these children are able to return to school and to progress as far as tertiary level.
