Hard to believe it was just over a month ago that Happy Africa hosted mega talents Nik Rabinowitz and Ryan Kidwell for a night of fun at food at Cafe Roux!
We received tremendous local support as our big entertainment names drew a big crowd of just over 100 guests. Packed into the giddy restaurant, the air was humming with anticipation as our executive director Michelle Proctor took the stage to introduce the Happy Africa Foundation and interns scuttled about with the Mystery Matchbox Raffle, which promised some big prizes to lucky guests including tickets to Ben Howard concerts, South Africa Brewery tours, shark cage diving and more.
Rabinowitz was, naturally, a paramount crowd-pleaser and commanded the audience with his usual, rowdy routine. Shortly after he finished, Ryan Kidwell, former front man for the Little Kings band of Durban, took to the mic washing folk-rock anthems over the buzzing audience as they ate food, won raffle prizes, and enjoyed themselves.
All in all, when the night was through, Happy Africa not only managed to create meaningful and lasting relationships with new local residents and organizations, but we also managed to promote our mission to educate, enrich, and empower our partner communities and raised over R15,000.00 to help fund our efforts.
This month weve turned our eyes to the horizon planning future events that involve our community and bring awareness to our partner communities. Stay tuned, for fun-filled nights for a good cause are always just around the bend with the Happy Africa Foundation.
