International Day of Happiness

The International Day of Happiness on the 20th of March was an excuse for The Happy Africa Foundation to put on their tap shoes and present the Dance for THAF fundraiser, which raised ₤1,703.00 across all locations! Every project put a great deal of effort and preparation into their events, and with only a week to plan, it was a marathon of coordination and collaboration. Each location was able to dedicate their funds to the local project of their choosing, and tailor the concept to meet the unique circumstances of their communities. In the end even the Head Office couldn’t resist taking part, and were happy to celebrate our organization’s deep commitment to sustainable development with an abbreviated dance session in the backyard courtyard of the office.

The International Day of Happiness was founded in 2013 to promote positive connections between people, and emphasize a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes the happiness and wellbeing of all peoples. THAF feels a similar ethical responsibility to expand the definition of development into one that also stands for sustainability, transparency, and social and environmental conscientiousness. The ₤1,703.00 raised through the concerted efforts of our dedicated volunteers, interns, staff, donors and local partners is representative of this overall commitment to making a positive difference in the world, reaching over the lines of social, cultural and economic difference to reflect a sentiment that we can all be truly happy about.
