On Friday 28 February, we hosted our ground breaking ceremony at the Linda Clinic expansion site.
It was great afternoon! Hundreds of Community members from Linda came to witness the breaking of the ground ceremony for their long awaited building project. The District Commissioner for Livingstone was the Guest of Honor. In his speech he said, “I very happy and much in support with such NGOs that bring such great developments in the country in needy areas like Livingstone as a whole, the Government is ready and will support this project to the end.”
Neighbourhood Health Committee Chairperson for Linda Community in his speech encouraged the government to help build an x-ray and laboratory departments in order for it to be a full operating hospital.
The afternoon was filled with traditional dancing and drama done by the Linda Community Dance group to celebrate this wonderful moment. The theme of the drama was ‘A Mini Hospital is Finally Here in Linda Community’. The drama students were encouraging fellow community members to safe guard the building project and the building itself once completed. Local children came to watch what was happening and seemed to enjoy the poetry from the other children from Linda West Primary school. Their poems were simply saying thank you to The Happy Africa Foundation, African Impact and the donors for their kind gesture in supporting and helping them.
Watch this space and help us achieve our goal in completing this much needed Linda Clinic.
