This year will mark the fourth year that Linda Community have been honored by the generosity of Tour d’Afrique and its participants. In previous years recipients of the bicycles have been to the Home Based carers who provide health support within the communities, along with the many school children who have benefited from the use of bicycles to help them cover the very long distances to and from school.
This years ceremony was held on Tuesday 8th April where again 50 bicycles were donated. Guest of Honour, Mr. Milimo, who represented the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Ministry of education, wanted to extent a huge thank you to the management of Tour d’Afrique, Safari Par Excellence, African Impact and of course THAF for their kind gesture to the Livingstone community and the country as a whole and for making such a great impact on the lives of Zambian people.
The impact that these bicycled have on our Linda Community Students is enormous.
We wish to make the clear distinction that the bikes are donated to the schools and communities to ensure the long term sustainability of the donation. Additionally we will closely monitor the attendance records and performance of the children in order to assure the donation is fully and productively used. The donation of the bikes will make a huge impact on children’s educational performance and to the community of Linda Farm addressing a very current need within Livingstone at this time, in a responsible way.
Rachael our Business Manager from African Impact adds, “On behalf of the District of Livingstone, recipients of these and previous generous donations I’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of the riders and staff of the Tour D’afrique. You are all amazing and very generous people. The bicycles donated today and in previous years just keep on giving and benefiting the communities year on year.”
